چکیده

This paper is an extension of an earlier work on “building regulations‟ impact on natural ventilation in Dhaka‟s apartment buildings”. Four schemes of building regulations (each offering different „maximum allowable footprint‟ with a different „maximum building height‟) were examined. Due to unavailability of large computation resource, only bottom floors, least privileged in terms of wind access, were examined. It found that the scheme that offers 70% „maximum allowable footprint‟ with a 7-story „maximum building height‟ provides maximum ventilation in bottom floors; and could provide maximum ventilation in the rest of the floors as well. However, the study findings could not be generalized since it only examined the lowest floor. This study examined natural ventilation on topmost floor; and found that the same set of regulations provide maximum natural ventilation for topmost floors as well. Computational Fluid Dynamics tool and Energy Simulation tool were used to examine the natural ventilation potential.

Design an optimized model to improve natural ventilation thorough the roof orientation

Natural ventilation is among those effective methods that is useful in hot dry climates. One of its important uses is in the atrium spaces in the office buildings. Although, as a passive solution, it has a significant impact on the reduction of energy consumption, the control of inlet and outflow of air as well as the control of air current temperature has always been a challenge for architects...

Natural Ventilation: Analysis of Indoor Airflow in an Assumed Cubic Building with Opposite Openings by CFD Investigations

The natural ventilation is an easy way to exchange the indoor polluted warm air with outdoor fresh air. The wind power injects outdoor fresh air into the building. A good indoor air current and subsequently a proper exhaust depend on the openings’ conditions and their situations. A serious architectural question is under what conditions of the openings the wind-cross ventilation can be effectiv...
